About the Course:
The Richmond Chapter of the American Institute of Architects is pleased to offer the Architectural Registration Exam (ARE) Seminar for General Structures and Lateral Forces. This course provides an overview of structural technology topics, offering the opportunity to learn from a professional and use that knowledge in preparation for taking the multiple choice section of the Structural Systems ARE. The course will consist of five, three-hour sessions, for a total of 15 hours of instruction.
About the Instructor:
Dave Spriggs is the structural engineering manager for Draper Aden Associates. He is a registered professional engineer in Virginia and the District of Columbia, along with 9 other states. Dave was previously the director of the Virginia office for Telesis Solutions, and formerly the vice president and director of structural engineering for Lanna, Dunlap & Spriggs. Dave has presented the Structural ARE Seminar since 2000.
Cost:
The course fee is $75 per person. (This is considerably more reasonable than other courses offered around the state for approximately $300.) Associate members of the Richmond Chapter AIA will receive a discounted rate of $25 per member. The course instructor will provide some study/review materials. Participants are responsible for providing the necessary items for note-taking and basic structural calculations. Accommodations and travel are the responsibility of the participant.
AIA Richmond will provide pizza and drinks.
Who Should Attend:
Intern Architects - This course prepares participants for successful completion of the structural divisions of the ARE.
