Tuesday – Tour of office of 3north Architects and Working with and Architect

Presented by 3North Architects

Time: 11:30 – 12:00 Tour of the renovated Corrugated Box Building (3north’s offices)
12:00 – 1:30 Discussion of selection, and working relationship with an Architect

3north principal, Todd Dykshorn will host the seminar “Working with an Architect” along with Ezra Hitzeman & Rick Farinholt of Little Harbor Builders, and Robert and Lauren Carter. Todd is currently working with Little Harbor and the Carters as a team to design and build the Carters’ new home. They will be able to share insights from their own experiences and answer questions from the architect, builder and client perspective.

10:00-11:15am Tour Lawrenceville Brick plant

11:15am-12:30pm Hands-on Masonry Activity

12:30-1:30pm Lunch & Presentation

1:30-2:30pm Surprise Demonstration!

2:30pm-4:00pm Board Bus and Arrive in Richmond

Please wear casual clothing and be sure to bring your hardhat. Guests may opt to drive themselves.

K. Edward Lay is the Cary D. Langhorne Professor Emeritus of Architecture at the University of Virginia where he taught architecture, architectural history, and historic preservation. From 1967 to 2000 he has taught in Architectural Design, Architectural History, and Historic Preservation at the University of Virginia, where he was Assistant/Associate Dean for Administrative and Student Affairs for nine years, was Director of Undergraduate Programs in Architecture for two years, and Acting Dean one semester. Each semester, since fall 2000, he has taught a popular course, "Historic Virginia Buildings," through the School of Continuing and Professional Studies.
