Part of the Southern Exposure Lecture Series at the Virginia Center for Architecture. Meet architects featured in the Virginia Center for Architectures visiting exhibition Southern Exposure: Contemporary Regional Architecture. Discover how they incorporate regional factors such as climate, culture, materials, and labor into their designs. Understand how being mindful of these factors can result in buildings that conserve natural resources and create healthier indoor spaces.
In recognition of Virginia Architecture Week, there will be a reception, sponsored by AIA Richmond Chapter. Ted Flato, FAIA will sign his book Lake/Flato Building and Landscape during the reception. A lecture by Mr. Flato will begin promptly at 7:00pm, following the reception.
Ted Flato, FAIA, of the San Antonio, Texas firm Lake/Flato Architects, grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and studied architecture at Stanford University. The American Institute of Architects selected Lake/Flato as its National Firm of the Year in 2004. The firm was also the only firm to have two projects selected as Top Ten Green Projects by the AIA Committee on the Environment in 2006.
To register for a lecture or the series, call (804) 644-3041, ext 100. The cost for the reception and lecture is $10.
