Meet architects featured in the Virginia Center for Architecture's visiting exhibit Southern Exposure: Contemporary Regional Architecture. Discover how they incorporate regional features such as climate, culture, materials, and labor into their designs. Understand how being mindful of these factors can result in buildings that conserve natural resources and create healthier indoor spaces.

Celebrate Virginia Architecture Week with a lecture by Ted Flato, FAIA, of the San Antonio, Texas firm Lake/Flato Architects. The American Institute of Architects selected Lake/Flato as its national Firm of the Year in 2004. The firm was also the only firm to have two projects selected as Top Ten Green Projects by the AIA Committee on the Environment in 2006. Flato grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and studied architecture at Stanford University.

In recognition of Virginia Architecture Week, there will be a special reception, sponsored by AIA Richmond Chapter, begininng at 5:30pm. Mr. Flato will sign his book Lake/Flato Building and Landscape during the reception.

This lecture begins promptly at 7:00pm, following the reception. To register for a lecture or the series, call (804) 644-3041, ext.100.

The cost for the reception and lecture is $10.
