The James River Green Building Council will present the GreenSpaces Design Competition - a two-phase locally organized design competition.
Scott Wheeler and Scott Kyle will discuss last year’s challenge, “PlaySpace”, that asked entrants to develop a recreational green space solution on a 10-acre parcel of the 44-acre Fulton Gas Works site. Entrants had to consider the existing on-site infrastructure, Richmond culture and climate to develop a solution that conserved natural resources and fed energy back into the grid.
Building off “PlaySpace”, Emily Smith will discuss this year’s competition: “StaySpace”, that invites entrants to look at the remaining 34 acres of the Fulton Gas Works site and develop a design that provides space for living, working and recreation or another land use of their choice (see competition website for additional information: www.jrgbc.org/greenspaces).
