Economic Roundtables
The Virginia Society AIA, in collaboration with local chapters, is developing a free program designed to help members respond to the current business climate with an emphasis on solutions to help their businesses through the recession. With a focus on solutions, the Economic Roundtables are intended to be part analysis, part a sharing of best practices, part business networking. By inviting regional experts, financial services groups, developers and other construction-industry professionals to the table, the program could be the start to an ongoing series of presentations.
After attending you should be able to:
1. Understand the current financial situation its short- and long-term impact on the design and construction industry
2. Determine the best strategies to lessen the impact and ensure survivability for your business
3. Be prepared for future fluctuations in the market place, including the eventual economic upswing.
Each 3.5 hour session AIA/CES learning units and will feature:
· A video presentation by AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker
· A presentation by an expert on local and regional issues
· Two 45-minute roundtable discussion sessions on topics such as financial management, financing and the credit crunch, staffing, and business development
· Summary discussion and question and answer session.
The first Economic Roundtables session takes place in Richmond on March 4, 2009. Download a registration form. For more information, contact Jim Walker at jwalker@aiava.org or (804) 237-1777.
